Mitsui Ocean Cruises
MITSUI OCEAN CRUISES unveiled the name of its second luxury vessel, MITSUI OCEAN SAKURA, debuting late 2026, with Captain Satoshi Ninomiya and Executive Chef Katsutoshi Nakayama (both veterans of Nippon Maru) appointed to lead it. The 32,477-ton, 458-guest, 229-suite ship will be Japanese-flagged. The name 'Sakura' honors the cherry blossom's cultural significance and references two predecessor vessels. It will primarily offer short-to-medium cruises from Japanese ports, visiting major cities and remote islands (Okinawa, Hokkaido). President Tsunemichi Mukai said the ship continues the company's '140-year legacy' with Japanese hospitality and seasonal-themed voyages. Inaugural itineraries open for booking in early 2026. Company currently operates NIPPON MARU and MITSUI OCEAN FUJI. Note: page shows an update date of September 10, 2025.
