MITSUI OCEAN CRUISES established partnerships with Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport & Tourism (MLIT) and local port boards to develop enhanced shore excursions for NIPPON MARU and the newly debuting MITSUI OCEAN FUJI, leveraging Japan's 150 ports. Sae Ichikawa, GM of Destination Experience, said the variety of ports and focus on the smaller-ship experience allow more 'bespoke and exclusive experiences.' Notable excursions: Usuki Stone Buddhas and fugu dining in Beppu, exclusive okonomiyaki in Hiroshima, Shikoku pilgrim walks in Sakaide, and monk-guided temple tours in Takamatsu with special access to normally-closed pagoda doors. MITSUI OCEAN FUJI debuts December 1, 2024 as Japan's most luxurious all-suite ship (458 guests); initial sailings run through July 2025, including New Year's and 66-day Grand Asia cruises.
