A late-summer voyage combining two of Japan's most exciting seasonal events — Komatsushima's exuberant Awa Odori folk dance festival and Shimonoseki's Kanmon Strait fireworks — plus a call at South Korea's scenic Jeju Island and a passage along the sacred Kumano coastline. Note: Shimonoseki call subject to tidal conditions.

Day 1 · Aug 9
Begin your journey in vibrant Yokohama, one of Japan’s busiest and most scenic ports. You’ll sail past a skyline of modern towers, the famous Ferris wheel, and sweeping harbor views as your ship departs. Take some time on deck to get oriented, enjoy the sea breeze, and watch the city lights fade into the distance. This is a relaxed start to your cruise, with plenty of time to unpack, explore the ship, and settle into your suite.
Day 2 · Aug 10
Enjoy a full day at sea as you sail toward your next destination. This is the perfect time to explore the ship’s amenities, whether you prefer a quiet corner with a book, a visit to the spa, or a leisurely lunch with ocean views. Sea days offer a gentle rhythm to your journey, giving you space to relax, recharge, and fully settle into vacation mode. Keep an eye on the horizon for changing light and coastline in the distance.

Another peaceful day at sea gives you time to fully enjoy life on board. Take advantage of onboard activities, from enrichment talks and tastings to fitness classes or simply strolling the decks. With no ports today, you can design the day entirely around your own pace and interests. Sunset over the open water is often a highlight, so consider finding a favorite viewing spot in the late afternoon.

Today you call at Jeju Island, known for its dramatic volcanic landscapes and striking coastal scenery. Sheer cliffs, turquoise water, and black basalt rock formations make this one of Korea’s most photogenic destinations. Depending on your interests, you might explore scenic viewpoints, coastal trails, or traditional villages. Even a simple walk along the shore offers sweeping views and fresh sea air.

Arrive in Shimonoseki, a historic port city at the southwestern tip of Honshu. Known for its maritime heritage and fresh seafood, the harbor is framed by hills, bridges, and working fishing boats. You might explore local markets, stroll the waterfront, or visit nearby viewpoints overlooking the strait. It’s a chance to experience a more relaxed, everyday side of coastal Japan.

Your second day in Shimonoseki allows time to explore more deeply or simply slow down and enjoy the harbor atmosphere. Consider visiting an additional viewpoint, trying a different café or seafood restaurant, or joining a local excursion into the surrounding hills or coastline. With an unhurried pace, you can appreciate the daily rhythms of this working port and its scenic waterfront.

Today’s port of call is Komatsushima, a quieter coastal city that offers a window into local life along Japan’s Seto Inland Sea. Expect gentle harbor views, nearby hills, and a relaxed town center with small shops and shrines. It’s an ideal place for a peaceful walk, a taste of regional cuisine, or a simple pause to take in the scenery and sea air away from the big-city bustle.

Dock in the Kiitanabe area on the Kii Peninsula, gateway to some of Japan’s most scenic coastline and sacred landscapes. The shoreline here is known for rugged rock formations, forested hills, and sweeping sea views. You might join a coastal excursion, visit a nearby lookout, or simply enjoy a quiet wander through town. It’s a beautiful stretch of Japan that combines natural drama with a tranquil atmosphere.

Spend the day cruising in the Kumanooki area, where the coastline and offshore islands create a constantly changing panorama. This is a day to be out on deck, watching cliffs, capes, and lighthouses slip by as you sail. The sea and sky often put on a show here, from soft morning light to glowing sunset tones. Bring a camera or simply soak it all in as you glide along this striking stretch of Japan’s coast.
Day 10 · Aug 18
Your cruise concludes back in Yokohama, where the familiar skyline welcomes you home to port. After breakfast, you’ll disembark and continue your onward journey or travels in Japan. Depending on your plans, you may have time for a final walk along the waterfront or a last look at the harbor from shore. It’s a fitting end to a voyage filled with sea days, coastal scenery, and varied port experiences.
