Shrine/Temple
Discover one of Japan’s most sacred Shinto sites during this 4-hour guided excursion. The Atsuta Shrine, revered for enshrining the sacred sword Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi, is a cornerstone of Japanese mythology and history. Visit Tatsumaki Jigoku, where a powerful geyser erupts regularly, then continue to Chinoike Jigoku, the Blood Pond Hell, with its naturally crimson waters. At Umi Jigoku, admire a vibrant cobalt-blue hot spring and unwind with a soothing footbath surrounded by gardens. Begin at Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, dramatically perched on a rocky coastline overlooking the East Sea. Unlike most temples nestled in the mountains, this seaside sanctuary offers a rare and breathtaking fusion of Buddhist tradition and ocean views. Stroll past stone lanterns, zodiac statues, and ornate pagodas as waves crash below, creating a tranquil yet powerful atmosphere. Then head into the heart of the city to explore Gukje Market, one of Korea’s largest and most historic marketplaces. Embrace a day at sea filled with cultural discovery and relaxation. Try your hand at watercolor art, origami, or join the Rakugo storytelling workshop. Treat yourself at KODAMA Wellness or ask our staff for assistance in wearing a Yukata for a traditional touch. Shimizu Port offers one of Japan’s most picturesque harbor views with Mt. Fuji as its backdrop. It’s known for fresh seafood, tea, and access to scenic and spiritual landmarks like Miho no Matsubara pine grove.
