Culinary and Beverage Menus Blend Locally Sourced Japanese Dishes with International and Seasonal Favorites

[February 25, 2025, Tokyo, Japan] – MOL Cruises, Ltd. [Tsunemichi Mukai – President]: The praise of delicious cuisine, blending the essence of Japan with international favorites, is meticulously presented and served onboard MITSUI OCEAN FUJI, the newest luxury, all-suite cruise ship from MITSUI OCEAN CRUISES.
The 458-guest, 32,477-ton MITSUI OCEAN FUJI debuted in Yokohama on in December 2024, and set sail with carefully crafted culinary offerings served throughout the ship. Guests aboard enjoy a truly distinct culinary journey, ranging from traditional Japanese treasures such as omakase sushi, Japanese sweet rolls like Anpan, and locally sourced green tea, to international specialties. The ship also debuted the first-ever culinary experience on a cruise ship with acclaimed Chef Kiyomi Mikuni, celebrated for his unique culinary style, “JAPONISÉE,” which masterfully blends Japanese flavors with traditional French cuisine.
Whether dining casually or in more formal settings, MITSUI OCEAN FUJI promises something extraordinary for every guest with dishes made with an abundance of seasonal ingredients sourced from Japan, guided by omotenashi - the deep-rooted spirit of Japanese hospitality – from the heart. MITSUI OCEAN FUJI features the following dining venues:
THE RESTAURANT FUJI (Main Dining)
The ship’s namesake main restaurant invites a sophisticated dining experience for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Guests enjoy a variety of menu options, including Japanese and Western breakfasts, Japanese set lunches, and curated dinner menus rotating between traditional Japanese cuisine and international favorites. Guests also enjoy select dishes on the main menu from Chef Mikuni, such as Red Sea Bream with Escargot Butter Sauce.
The executive chefs’ take on traditional Japanese techniques also incorporates many of the delicacies that became favorites on sister ship Nippon Maru, like the famous roast beef, served once per voyage. Other specialty Japanese dishes include Prawns & Caviar, Dashi Broth with Steamed Sea Urchin, Crab Chirashi Sushi, Pickled Turnips & Sake Lees Pickles, Duck Breast & Senju Scallion in Soy Broth.
Various white and red wines, draft beers, brewed teas, and coffee are served complimentary.
HOKUSAI FINE DINING
Named after the famous Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, HOKUSAI FINE DINING offers beautiful artistic presentation, exceptional service and locally sourced seasonal ingredients all brought to life by Chef Kiyomi Mikuni, the first-ever Japanese chef to receive the “Chevalier of the Legion of Honour” from the Republic of France in 2015. This prix-fixe, five-course dinner includes meticulously prepared dishes, such as:
Pacific Bluefin Tuna Tartare
Japanese Spiny Lobster and Truffle Salad
Brittany Blue Lobster Wrapped with Caviar
Wagyu Beef Filet Rossini with Foie Gras and Truffles
Passion Blancmange with Apricot Bavarois and Lychee Sorbet
A gourmet cheese cart also serves artisanal selections and Chef Mikuni hand selected a wine list to perfectly complement the menu delicacies. (Cover charge applies)
TERRACE RESTAURANT HACHIYO

Featured drinks include the Fuji Sunset with a passion fruit aroma bubble and a selection of Japanese craft cocktails. OCEAN CLUB
This stylish venue features a full bar and a unique gin cart exclusively pouring Japanese gins sourced from all over Japan and paired with unique ingredients like yuzu peel, smoked rosemary, red peppercorns, and juniper berries for the perfect gin and tonic or martini. The OCEAN CLUB also offers a selection of whiskies from all over the world and Japan, with the centerpiece being the very rare and difficult to source Nikka Nine Decades. Whiskies are served in highballs, on the rocks, with water, or neat. Guests also can choose from a selection of readymade and homemade Otsumami snacks.
“Our culinary team, originating from various regions in Japan from north to south, has refined our dining program onboard our new MITSUI OCEAN FUJI to offer the best of both Japanese and international cuisines,” said Teruhiko Omagari, MITSUI OCEAN CRUISES General Manager, Guest Experience. “Prepared with the utmost care to help our guests create even deeper memories of their cruise, our menus feature colorful seasonal foods, inviting happiness around the table that capture the essence of Japan and beyond.”
A variety of vegetarian and gluten-free menu items are available throughout the ship to ensure all guests can enjoy their very own dining experience.
